【ダラス警官銃撃】警察から容疑者と誤認され、Twitterで拡散された男性「殺すと脅迫されている」

アメリカ・テキサス州ダラスで7月7日、一連の黒人男性射殺事件に抗議するデモの最中に警戒にあたっていた警官が相次いで射殺された事件で、ダラス警察が事件直後Twitterで発表した容疑者の男性が、全くの別人だった。この間違えられた男性は「殺人の脅迫を受けた」と言っている。

マーク・ヒューズさんが7日、警察による黒人男性射殺に反対する抗議デモに参加していた時に、狙撃犯がその場にいた複数の警察官に銃弾を放った。その後、ダラス警察は下の画像をTwitter上に投稿した。

ヒューズさんは疑いが晴れ無罪放免となったが、このツイートは数時間後経っても残ったままだった。

「私たちは、容疑者として私の顔が載っているという電話を受け、すぐに警官を呼び止めたんです」と、ヒューズさんは地元テレビ局「CBSダラス」に語った。彼はニュースにショックを受けたと言う。というのも、彼は当日それまで「警官と話をし、笑ったり、ジョークを言い合ったりしていた」からだ。

少なくとも警官が5人殺害され、7人が抗議デモ中に負傷した。このデモは、アメリカ・ルイジアナ州バトンリュージュやミネソタ州セントポールで黒人男性が警官に相次いで射殺された事件に対し、全米で巻き起こった抗議の1つだった。

バトンルージュで5日朝殺害されたアルトン・スターリングさんはCDを販売していた。横たわっている彼に銃撃する警察官の姿が動画に収められている。セントポール郊外で6日殺害されたフィランド・カスティールさんは警官に「テールランプが壊れている」という理由で車を止められて職務質問を受け、射殺された。彼のガールフレンドは、娘も車に同乗している中、Facebook Liveを使って射殺後の惨状を映像で流した。

ヒューズさんは尋問のために連行され、30分後に釈放された。

「全国ニュースで私の顔が流れています。みんな出てきて、この若者は無関係だって言ってくれませんか?」と彼は警察に尋ねた。「殺すぞって脅迫されているんです」

「私は迫害されたんです。不当に」と彼は付け加えた。

ヒューズさんは銃を持った姿を写真に撮られたが、彼の友人は地元テレビ局「CBSダラス」に銃弾は入っていなかったと証言した。

彼の兄のコーリーさんは「100パーセント、彼ではない」と、CBSダラスに語った。「弟は俺たちと歩いていたんだから」

「ふざけた話ですよ」と、友人のディビッドさんは語った。

ダラス市の広報担当者の女性は後に、ヒューズが銃撃の容疑者ではないと明確に否定するツイートを行った。
