ミツカングループ(愛知県半田市)はユニリーバ

「ラグー アンド ベルトッリ」は米国で著名なパスタソースのブランド。買収は2014年6月末までに完了する見通し。

ミツカンのファイナンシャルアドバイザーはゴールドマン・サックス。

ユニリーバは4月、ラグーを含む北米パスタソース事業や経営不振の「スリムファースト」部門などを見直すと発表しており、両社の思惑が一致した。

ミツカンは、グローバル展開を加速させるため、今年3月から社名を英語表記に変更。従来は日本を除く事業を海外事業として一括管理していたが、「日本とアジア」「北米」「欧州」の3地域に分けて運営し、資金管理なども地域ごとに行う体制に変えていた。

ミツカンは1970年代終盤に米国に進出し、15の生産拠点を持つ。これまでにニューメキシコ州のボーダー・フーズを傘下に収め、コショウやエンチラーダソースなどの製品も提供するようになった。
