イタリア・シチリア島のエトナ山が2月27日夜に噴火して以来、世界中のウェブカメラで、動画ショーが繰り広げられている。

世界の噴火状況を記録しているスミソニアン研究所の「グローバル火山活動プログラム」によると、エトナ山は世界で最も活発で、最も多くの記録の残る火山だ。
AP通信によると、この噴火は数日から数週間に及ぶ可能性がある。
火山灰はフライトの中断などの危険を引き起こす可能性があるが、28日のシチリアのカターニア空港は通常通りの運航だった。当局は周囲の町への危険はないと報告している。
ユーロニュースによると、エトナ山の粉雪に覆われた斜面でスキーを楽しんでいた無謀な人たちもいた。
