120名以上が亡くなったパリ同時多発テロからわずか数日後、パリのレピュブリック広場にイスラム教徒の男性が立った。
彼は目隠しをしており、そばには2つのボードが置かれていた。
1つには「私はイスラム教徒です。人々は私のことをテロリストだと言います」、そしてもう1つのボードには「私はみなさんを信じています。みなさんは私を信じてくれますか？ 信じてくれるのなら、ハグしてください」と書かれていた。

一人、また一人と彼に近づき、そして多くの人が彼を抱きしめている。中には目に涙を浮かべている人もいた。動画は11月17日にYouTubeに投稿されている。
「テロリストとは、何の理由もなく他人を殺そうとする人です」と男性は目隠しを取った後で語った。「イスラム教徒はそんなことはしません。イスラム教の教えは殺人を禁じています」
