豪雨による洪水が発生したミャンマーで、8月3日までに少なくとも47人が死亡し、最も被害が大きい西部では非常事態宣言が発令された。BBCが報じた。

国連は、救助隊が遠隔地に到着するにつれて死亡者数は増加するだろうと警告している。

47Newsによると、7月半ばから続く豪雨で被災者は21万人以上に達し、6000戸近い家屋が全壊、多くの市民が避難生活を余儀なくされている。3日には、野党国民民主連盟(NLD)の党首アウンサンスーチー氏が南部の都市バゴーの被災者を見舞った。
