強制結婚から逃亡した11歳、動画で告発

親が決めた相手と結婚させられるくらいなら「死んだほうがまし」。イエメンに住む11歳の少女は、強制結婚を拒み、家族のもとから逃げ出した。動画はわずか3分だが、世界に向けて訴える少女の姿は衝撃的だ。

ナダ・アル・アフダルさんは、親が自分を無理矢理、裕福な相手に嫁がせようとしていることがわかると、命がけでおじのもとに避難した。勇気のある、利発そうな少女は、まだ10代だった自分のおばが、親の決めた相手と結婚させられ、暴力を受けた末に自ら命を絶った体験に触れて、悲惨な早婚の風習について告発している。

「自分の人生を生きることなどできません。教育も受けられません。私の両親には慈悲の心がないのでしょうか」とナダさんは問いかける。「死んだほうがいい。(結婚させられるくらいなら)死んだほうがましです」

ニュースサイト「NOW」の記事によれば、ナダさんのおじ、アブデル・サラム・アル・アフダル氏が姪の強制結婚を阻止したのは、これで2回だ。ナダさんの両親は前にも一度、国外に住む裕福な男性とナダさんとの結婚を承諾した。しかし、アル・アフダル氏が間に入り、相手の男性を「追い払う」ために、ナダさんはとんでもないわがまま娘だと話したのだ。

「結婚相手の話を聞いて、私は居ても立ってもいられなくなりました」と、テレビ局で画像合成技術者として働くアル・アフダル氏は同サイトに語っている。「ナダはまだ11歳にもなっていなかったのです。正確には、10歳3ヶ月です。そんな年齢で嫁がせて将来をダメにするなど、到底許せませんでした」

その後、母親が再び、嫌がる娘を嫁がせようとした時、ナダさんは、拒否すれば殺されるという脅迫に負けず、おじの助けを求めて家から逃げ出し、警察に訴え出た。現在ナダさんは、アル・アフダル氏と暮らしている。

国際NGOワールド・ビジョンが今年3月に発表した調査(PDFファイル)によると、世界的規模の貧困や社会的危機の深刻化を受けて、少女が強制的に結婚させられる児童婚の数は増加している。

WHO(世界保健機関)も今年3月、結婚させられる18歳以下の少女の数は、1日あたり3万9000人に上るという推定を発表した。

ナダさんの動画の閲覧回数は、すでに2万回を超えている。彼女の望みは、世界中の人々に自分のメッセージをはっきりと伝えることだ。

「両親は私の夢を打ち砕きました。私の思いをすべてを葬り去りました」とナダさんは動画で訴える。「これは教育とは言えません。犯罪です。本当の犯罪です」

[イスラム法では、(開祖ムハンマドが50歳のとき9歳の女性と再婚したことを根拠にして)女子の結婚最低年齢を一般的に9歳としている。さらに、最貧国のひとつであるイエメンでは、結婚最低年齢を規定する法律がない。複数の市民団体が最低年齢を法律で18歳に規定するよう議会に働きかけているが、保守派に阻まれてきた
