世界ランキング12位の錦織圭（日清食品）は同1位のラファエル・ナダル（スペイン）と対戦したが、6－2、4－6からの第3セット途中で体調不良のため棄権し、今季3勝目はならなかった。ナダルは今季3勝目を挙げ、ツアー通算63勝。
錦織は今季2勝目を挙げた4月のバルセロナ・オープンから続いていたクレーコートでの連勝が10で止まった。
