繁華街の路上で立ち小便をする迷惑な酔っぱらいたちへの対抗策として、ドイツ北部のハンブルクでは画期的な方法が導入された。

その方法とは、撥水性がきわめて高い塗料を建物の壁に塗ること。この塗料には尿をはじく効果があるため、壁に向かって立ち小便をすると、はねかえった自分の尿をまともに受けてしまうことになる。

以下の動画に映っているように、風俗店やナイトクラブがひしめくハンブルクのザンクトパウリ地区の繁華街では、立ち小便する不届き者が多い。

今回の運動の責任者であるジュリア・スタロン氏はシュピーゲル誌の取材に、「この街を訪れた人は、まるで下水の中にいるかのように感じるでしょう」と、語っている

しかし、「この塗料を塗ることで、立ち小便をする人たちに対して、『立ち小便は歓迎されていない』というメッセージを直接送ることができます」とロイターの取材に対し述べている

動画では、英語とドイツ語で、「立ち小便禁止!おしっこ返しを受けるぞ!」と書かれた警告を担当者が貼って回っている。

「この塗料は建物と住民たちを守り、さらに最も重要な点として、立ち小便は受け入れられられないという意思表示になります」

この画期的な塗料の値段は、6平方メートル当たり500ユーロ(約6万4000円)。タイム誌の記事によると、スタロン氏は、この塗料をさらに調達するために、資金を募る計画だという。
