真珠湾を安倍首相が訪問へ 現職首相の慰霊は初めて

安倍晋三首相は12月26日と27日、アメリカのオバマ大統領とともにハワイを訪問し、太平洋戦争の発端となった1941年12月の旧日本軍による真珠湾攻撃の犠牲者を慰霊すると発表した。

安倍晋三首相が、現職首相としては初めてハワイ・真珠湾を慰霊訪問することになった。NHKニュースなどが報じた。

安倍首相の発言は以下のとおり。

今月の26、27日にハワイを訪問し、オバマ大統領と首脳会談を行います。この4年間、オバマ大統領とはあらゆる面で日米関係を発展させ、世界の平和と安定のために共に汗を流してきました。先のオバマ大統領の広島訪問に際して核なき世界に向けた大統領のメッセージは、今も多くの日本人の胸に刻まれています。

ハワイでの会談は、この4年間を総括し、未来に向けて、さらなる同盟の強化と、意義を世界に発信する機会にしたいと思います。これまでの集大成になる最後の首脳会談となります。

この際、オバマ大統領と共に真珠湾を訪問します。犠牲者の慰霊のための訪問です。「二度と戦争の惨禍を繰り返してはならない」。その未来に向けた決意を示したいと思います。

同時に日米の和解。この和解の価値を発信する機会にもしたいと考えています。今や日米同盟は世界の中の日米同盟として、日米とも力を合わせて世界の様々な課題に取り組む希望の同盟となりました。その意義は「過去も現在も未来も変わらない」。このことを確認する意義ある会談となると思います。

世界の平和と安定のために共に汗を流してきました。先のオバマ大統領の広島訪問に際して核なき世界に向けた大統領のメッセージは、今も多くの日本人の胸に刻まれています。ハワイでの会談は、この4年間を総括し、未来に向けて、さらなる同盟の強化と、意義を世界に発信する機会にしたいと思います。これまでの集大成になる最後の首脳会談となります。

日米首脳会談と真珠湾訪問は、11月にリマで開催されたAPECに出席した際、オバマ大統領との会談で合意したという。

■トランプ次期大統領へのけん制か

5日の会見で安倍首相は、「日米同盟は世界の中の日米同盟として、日米とも力を合わせて世界の様々な課題に取り組む希望の同盟」とした上で、今回のハワイ訪問が「日米同盟の意義を確認する会談となる」と強調した。

ハワイ訪問の背景には、同盟国との関係見直しを言及しているトランプ次期大統領をけん制する意味もありそうだ。

NHKニュースは、今回の真珠湾訪問と日米首脳会談が「日米の信頼関係を深め、新政権の発足後も、強固な同盟関係を堅持する狙いもあるものとみられ」ると分析している。
