ポーランド人男性が30人に襲撃される ヘイトクライムがイギリスで激化

ポーランド人男性が30人の若者グループに集団暴行を受けた。

イギリスでは6月23日に行われたEU離脱を問う国民投票以降、東欧圏からの移民、とりわけポーランド人へのヘイトクライム(憎悪犯罪)がエスカレートしている。

ウェスト・ヨークシャー地方のリーズでは、9月9日にポーランド人男性が30人の若者グループに集団暴行を受けた。

被害者は28歳で、殴る蹴るの暴行を繰り返し受け、頭部の切り傷のため入院した。警察は男性を襲ったグループを「人種的加重暴行」の容疑で捜索し、グループのうち13〜17歳の9人を逮捕した

被害者の男性はポーランド人の友人と2人で、9月9日午後9時35分、リーズのタウン・ストリートで若者グループと遭遇した。

2人とも逃げようとしたが、うまく逃げられたのは1人だけだった。被害者はアライアンス・ストリートの近くで若者グループに追い詰められ、暴行を受けた。

地元紙「ヨークシャー・イブニング・ポスト」の報道によると、警察が現場に到着したのは、ポーランド人男性が大勢の若者グループに囲まれ路上で血まみれになっている、と目撃者からの通報があってからだった。

事件は、現場で被害者に浴びせられた言葉から、ヘイトクライム(憎悪犯罪)として扱われている。

テリーザ・メイ首相

テリーザ・メイ首相は、EU離脱後のイギリスで相次ぐポーランド人への暴行について、ポーランドのベアタ・シドゥウォ首相に電話で遺憾の意を伝えた。

メイ首相は、ポーランド人男性1人がエセックスのハーロウで殺害された後、そしてその1週間後に同じくハーロウでボーランド人2人が暴行を受けた後にも、シドゥウォ首相に電話した。

首相官邸によると、メイ首相は「ヘイトクライムはイギリス社会にふさわしくありません」と述べ、ポーランドの外務大臣、内務大臣がロンドンを訪問し事件について議論するという要請を受け入れた。

リーズで起こった暴行事件について、ポール・マニー警視正は、被害者は専門家当局の支援を受けており、ポーランド人のコミュニティーに安心感を与えていると述べた。

「私は人々、特に地元のポーランド人のコミュニティーを安心させたい。われわれはこのような人種差別の事件を許容しないし、責任を負うべき人々を法の下で確実に裁くためにできることは何でもするつもりです」と、マニー警視正は述べた。

「リーズの警視庁犯罪捜査部の刑事は、この事件を広範囲にわたって調べていて、地域の監視カメラのチェックや目撃者への聞き取りをしています。被害者は専門家当局によって支援されています」
