「同性愛者はカトリック社会に恩恵」 ローマ法王庁の姿勢に変化

ローマ法王庁は報告書に、教会は同性愛者や離婚した信者を歓迎し、尊重すべきだとする文言を盛り込んだ。現実に合わせた対応を目指していることの示唆とも受け止められている。

ローマ法王庁(バチカン)は10月13日に発表した報告書に、教会は同性愛者や離婚した信者を歓迎し、尊重すべきだとする文言を盛り込んだ。離婚や同性婚をタブーとするカトリック教会が、現実社会に合わせた柔軟な対応を目指していることを示唆するとも受け止められている。

5日から開催している「世界代表司教会議」の臨時総会での中間報告。47NEWSなどが報じた。

会議は19日までの日程で、世界の高位聖職者らが出席して離婚や同性婚など現代の家庭が抱える問題をテーマに議論している。会議終了後、最終報告を発表する予定。

1週間の議論を踏まえた中間報告は「同性愛者らはカトリック社会に恩恵をもたらす」などと指摘した。

CNNによると、これまでのカトリックの教えでは、同性愛行為を「本質的な障害」と呼び、同性愛者には貞操を守って生きるよう求めてきた。前ローマ法王のベネディクト16世時代の教会は、「同性愛傾向が深く染みついた」男性を聖職者から一掃しようとした。

しかし、現在のフランシスコ法王が自分は同性愛者を「裁く立場にない」と発言するなど、同性愛者に対するカトリック教会の姿勢は変わりつつある。ただし、教会内部では、教義に厳格な保守派と、柔軟な改革派との対立があるという。
