ロシアのプーチン大統領は12月13日にモスクワ・クレムリン(大統領府)で読売新聞、日本テレビと会見し、その際に愛犬「ゆめ」を連れて現れた。ロシア大統領府は、プーチン氏とゆめが戯れる写真を公開した。

愛犬は2012年に秋田県から贈られた雌の秋田犬で、4歳7カ月になる。ゆめは、14年2月にロシア南部ソチでプーチン氏と会談した安倍晋三首相を出迎えて以来、公の登場となる。芸を見せてご褒美をもらう様子からは、ゆめがプーチン氏に懐いているいることがうかがえる。

ゆめは現れた際、カメラのフラッシュが盛んにたかれたため興奮してなんども吠えた。会見した読売新聞によると、プーチン氏はゆめについて「こわがるのも無理はない。とても厳しい犬だから。人が大勢いて、たくさんのカメラがあって、照明がまぶしくて、カメラのシャッターがカシャカシャと音を立てている。彼女は私の警護を担当しているみたいだ」と語った。

日本政府は15日からのプーチン氏訪日に合わせ、ゆめのペアとなる秋田犬の贈呈を計画していたが、プーチン氏側が断ったという。
