10月22日、カナダの首都、オタワにある戦没者記念碑で銃を持った男が発砲、撃たれた兵士が亡くなった。撃たれたのは、ネイサン・シリーロ伍長、24歳。CBCニュースによれば、彼には幼稚園に通う息子がいるという。
「ネイサンはいい人でした。他人のために全てを捧げられる人です」と、友人のマリー・ミシェルはその人となりを語る。
Twitterには、撃たれる直前のネイサンの姿を捉えた写真がある。
多くの人が彼の写真を投稿し、その死を悼んだ。
ネイサンのInstagaramアカウントも存在する。
