ロシアのプーチン大統領は７日、ロシア産天然ガスをトルコに運ぶパイプライン「ターキッシュ・ストリーム」をギリシャ国境まで延長する計画について、プロジェクトに参加するギリシャ企業に対し資金供給を行う考えを示した。
ギリシャのチプラス首相が４月にロシアを訪問した際も申し出たが、この日チプラス首相と行った電話会談であらためて資金供給の方針を伝えたとしている。ロシア政府が明らかにした。
ロシアは昨年１２月、欧州の反対を理由に、東欧向けにロシア産天然ガス運ぶパイプライン「サウスストリーム」を急きょ中止。その後ターキッシュ・ストリームに着手した経緯がある。
ロシアはこのターキッシュ・ストリームをトルコとギリシャ国境付近まで延長することでガスのハブ拠点を構築し、そこから南欧各国へ供給する構想を抱いている。
