スペイン 牛追い祭「サン・フェルミン祭」始まる【動画・画像集】

サン・フェルミン祭は、フェルミンスペイン北部の古都パンプローナで開催される祭り。牛追い祭りとして有名である。

早朝にバグパイプを演奏する楽団が行進し、牛追いの開始を知らせる。朝8時にロケット花火が打ち上げられると猛牛の群れが突進を開始し、勇敢な群衆が牛の前後を走る。毎年、牛に突き飛ばされたり、踏まれたりして怪我人が続出する。この後も闘牛場で牛と人間が格闘する。へミングウェイの小説『日はまた昇る』に描かれたことで世界的に知られるようになった。7月7日がパンプローナの守護聖人サンフェルミンの日で、この日から1週間開催される。中世から続く古い祭りで、厳かな宗教行事も行われる。バレンシアのサンホセの火祭り、セビリャの春祭りとともに、スペイン3大祭りとされる。(コトバンク「サンフェルミン祭」より)

しかし一方で、動物愛護的観点からサン・フェルミン祭に反対する声も上がっている。AFPによると、国際動物愛護団体「動物の倫理的扱いを求める人々の会」と「アニマ・ナチュラリス」のメンバーらが同地に集まり、祭りの間に殺される48頭の牛を象徴する同数のひつぎを並べて中に入り、闘牛に対する抗議活動を行った。
