イギリス・マンチェスターで、歌手アリアナ・グランデのコンサート会場で自爆テロ事件が発生したことを受け、6月下旬からイギリス国内での開催を予定しているジャスティン・ビーバーの海外公演に対し、中止を求める声が相次いでいる。
ビーバーは6月から欧米ツアーをスタートし、6月30日にはウェールズの首都カーディフ市内のプリンシパリティ・スタジアムで、7月2日にはロンドン中心部の王立公園ハイド・パークで公演を予定している。
事件発生から3日経った25日までに、ビーバーのマネージャー、スクーター・ブラウンのInstagramやTwitterアカウントには、テロ再発を危険視する声や、安全性を重視するべきといった理由でビーバーのイギリス公演の中止を求めるコメントが多数寄せられた。
来月、ジャスティンはイギリス国内で公演を行う予定だが、安全のためにも公演はキャンセルするべきだ。ブラウン、お願いだ。
グランデのマネージャーも務めているブラウンは25日、自身のInstagramに「父として、この卑劣な行為に対して表現できないほどの悲しみや憤りを感じている」とコメントし、事件の被害にあった人々を追悼したが、ビーバーのイギリス公演の行方については言及しなかった。
ブラウンは追悼の意を表明するため、グランデのファンらの間で広がっている黒いリボンとグランデのトレードマークであるうさぎの耳をかけ合わせたデザインの画像も投稿した。
■グランデは6月5日までの公演中止を発表
事件は5月22日、マンチェスターの中心部にある屋内競技場「マンチェスター・アリーナ」で発生した。コンサートが終了した直後、大きな爆発が起きて22人が死亡、64人が負傷した。BBCによると、負傷者のうち20人が重体だという。
警察当局は、自爆テロの実行犯はリビア系移民のサルマン・アベディ容疑者（22）と発表。また、事件に関わった疑いでアベディ容疑者の兄を含め、イギリス国内で7人を拘束した。過激派組織IS（イスラム国）が事件に関与したと主張する犯行声明を出しており、イギリスのアンバー・ラッド内相はアベディ容疑者が事件前にリビアに渡航していた可能性があると指摘した。
グランデが所属するレコードレーベルは25日、ロンドンとヨーロッパで予定されていた6月5日までの公演を中止すると発表した。
