スウェーデン南西部のイエーテボリで3月18日夜、銃撃事件が発生し、少なくとも2人が死亡し、8人が負傷した。ロイター他が報じた。

イギリスの新聞「インディペンデント」によると、地元警察は「20〜25歳くらいの2人の男が殺された。10〜15人が撃たれてケガをした」と述べた。死者数は増える可能性があるという。
ロイターによると、警察はギャング関連の犯行とみている。警察のスポークスマン、ウラ・ブレム氏は「テロとの関連を示すものはまったくない」と述べた。
ブレム氏はイエーテボリ市内のヒシンゲン地区はギャング抗争が多発しており、今回の銃撃が発生した理由としてギャング同士の抗争が有力だという見方を示した。
「我々はこの地区を重点的に警戒していた。ここではギャングの犯罪が多いからだ。過去にも銃撃事件が発生している」とブレム氏は述べた。
