シリア難民の少女の衝撃的な写真が、世界で波紋を呼んでいる。3月24日に、ガザ在住の写真家、ナディア・アブシャバンさんが「シリアの少女がジャーナリストのカメラを武器だと思って、両手を挙げた」とTwitterに投稿した。この写真は3月31日現在で1万4000回以上もリツイートされた。
BBCの追跡取材によると、この写真を撮影したのはトルコの報道カメラマン、オスマン・サーリさん。2014年12月、トルコ国境に近いシリアのアトメ難民キャンプで4歳の女の子フデアちゃんを撮影した。フデアちゃんは、母親や兄弟2人と共に150キロ離れた故郷ハマから逃れてきた。サーリさんが勤めるトルコ紙に1月に掲載された物が、ネットに拡散したということだった。
サーリさんは「私は望遠レンズを使っていたので、フデアちゃんはそれを武器と勘違いしたのでしょう。私は撮影後に写真を見て、彼女が脅えていることを理解しました」と、BBCに対して話している。
