台湾南部の高雄市で8月1日に発生した大規模なガス爆発事故は24人が死亡、271人が負傷した。死者の数は今後増える可能性もある。ロイターなどが報じた。

MSN産経ニュースによると、現場では爆発が複数回発生し、道路が数百メートルにわたって陥没した。

有力紙、聯合報(電子版)は「まるで爆撃を受けた戦場のようだ」と伝えた。爆発は数カ所で数回にわたって起き、炎が15階建てビルの高さまで立ち上る場所もあったという。
