女子ジャンプは今大会から正式種目に採用された新種目。高梨選手は1回目を3位で折り返したが、2回目で順位を落とし、4位となった。伊藤有希選手は7位、山田優梨菜選手は30位だった。
金メダルを獲得したのはドイツのカリーナ・フォクト選手。高梨選手のライバルとされたサラ・ヘンドリクソン選手も振るわず、21位だった。
女子ジャンプはラージヒル、団体もないため、これで競技終了となる。
高梨選手は競技後、目に涙を浮かべながら以下のように話した。
今この舞台に自分が立てたことはいい経験だったんですけど、今まで支えてくださった皆さんに感謝を伝えるためにこの舞台に来たのでいい結果を出せなかったのが残念です。自分では、やることは一緒なので、どの試合も変わらず挑んだつもりだったんですけど、やはりどこか違うところがあるなと感じました。一本目も二本目も、納得行くジャンプができなかったので残念です。また、このオリンピックに戻ってこれるようにもっともっとレベルアップしたいです。
