パキスタンのナワーズ・シャリフ首相は襲撃のニュースを受けて、現地ペシャワールへと向かった。「私はペシャワールへ向かい、作戦を自分で指揮しようと決めた。彼らは私自身の子供であり、今回の犠牲は私自身の喪失であるからだ」。
シャリーフ氏は今回の襲撃事件を受けて、パキスタンの国全体で3日間の喪に服すと宣言した。
