タイ原油流出、人気リゾート地サメット島に到達 白砂のビーチが黒く染まる

タイ東部ラヨーン県沖のタイ湾でパイプラインからの原油流出事故があり、外国人にも人気のリゾート地・サメット島の海岸に原油が漂着した。タイ軍部隊が除去作業にあたっているが、白砂で有名なビーチが黒く染まっている。

時事通信によると、事故は27日、国営タイ石油会社(PTT)グループのPTTグローバルケミカル社が運営するパイプラインで発生。海軍も出動して回収作業に当たったが、原油は強風などのため拡散し、事故現場から約2キロ先のサメット島西岸に到達した。

ビーチには原油の黒い波が押し寄せ、サメット島に滞在中の観光客らが別のビーチへ避難する騒ぎとなっている

油膜は長さ約600メートル、厚さ20~30センチと伝えられ、ビーチを閉鎖して原油の除去作業が進められている。

CNNによると、サメット島は首都バンコクからバスで4時間足らずの海岸から船で渡る人気観光地で、週末はマリンスポーツなどを楽しむ客でにぎわう。島内14カ所のビーチのうち、原油の影響を受けたのは1カ所だけで、観光客の大半が滞在する東岸に影響はないとみられる。

島の観光シーズンは10~4月。地元観光当局者は「長期的な影響が出るかどうかは、PTTがいかに早く原油を回収できるかにかかっている」と述べた
