天安門の車炎上事件、ウイグル族の自爆テロか?

中国の北京市内にある天安門広場で10月28日、自動車が歩行者に突っ込んだ後に炎上して5人が死亡、多数の負傷者が出た事件で、警察当局は新疆ウイグル自治区出身の2人を容疑者と特定した。

中国の北京市内にある天安門広場で10月28日、自動車が歩行者に突っ込んだ後に炎上して5人が死亡、多数の負傷者が出た事件で、警察当局は新疆ウイグル自治区出身の2人を容疑者と特定した。ロイターが報じている。

現地の4つのホテルがロイターに明らかにしたところでは、当局は28日夜、新疆ウイグル自治区出身のウイグル族とみられる容疑者2人の名前を挙げたうえで捜査協力を求める通知を出し、10月1日以降の宿泊客に不審な人物がいなかったかどうかホテルに聞き込みを行っている。

新疆ウイグル自治区では、ウイグル族の間で独立運動が活発化している。今年6月にはトルファン地区ピチャン県で暴動が発生し、35人の死者が出ている。香港の人権団体「中国人権民主化運動情報センター」は10月29日、今回の自動車炎上事件は「自爆テロ」であり、自治区での取り締まり強化に対するウイグル族の不満が背景にあるとの見方を示した。時事ドットコムでは以下のように伝えている。

同センターによると、天安門に突っ込んだ車に乗り、死亡した3人のうち1人は、親族がピチャン県での衝突事件で治安当局に射殺されていた。同県では29日、数百人に上る公安当局者や武装警察が道路を封鎖したほか、同自治区で独立運動が活発なホータンやカシュガルでも警備が強化されたという。

今回の炎上事件が起きた現場は、中国の「建国の父」である毛沢東の巨大な肖像画が掲げられた場所の正面。少数民族が「自爆テロ」で、共産党・政府の象徴である天安門に故意に突っ込んだ可能性が強くなってきている。
