“タイバニ”の愛称で知られる人気アニメ『TIGER & BUNNY』のハリウッドでの実写映画化が、10月9日、アメリカで開催中のポップカルチャーの祭典「ニューヨーク・コミコン2015」で発表された。『アポロ13』や『ビューティフル・マインド』を手がけたアカデミー賞監督のロン・ハワード氏が製作総指揮を務める。公開時期は未定だ。

タイバニは、近未来都市を舞台に、特殊能力者たちが犯罪に立ち向かう物語。登場するヒーローキャラクターは、スポンサーの援助を受けて活動しているという設定に基づき、アニメでもヒーローたちは実在する企業のロゴを背負って事件解決や人命救助に奔走している。この「キャラクタープレイスメント」と呼ばれる広告手法を本格導入したことで、大きな注目を集めた。
実写化の報道に、ネットには早くも、俳優陣を予想する声があふれている。
