東芝、中国大手「美的集団」に家電事業を売却へ どうして?

経営再建中の東芝が、冷蔵庫や洗濯機などの白物家電事業の売却について、中国の家電大手「美的集団」と最終調整に入った。

経営再建中の東芝が、冷蔵庫や洗濯機などの白物家電事業の売却について、中国の家電大手「美的集団」と最終調整に入った。時事通信ニュースなどが3月15日に伝えた。不正会計問題を受けたリストラの一環。台湾の鴻海(ホンハイ)精密工業に買収されるシャープに続いて、日本の家電業界をリードしてきた東芝の白物家電事業も、外資の傘下に入る。

美的集団は「Midea(ミデア)」ブランドで家電を販売しており、2014年の売上高は約2兆6000億円。東芝は大半の家電事業を売却する方針で、従業員やブランド、販売網などの取り扱いを今後詰める。

東芝の白物を含めた家電事業は、16年3月期まで5期連続の赤字となる見通し。同社は不正会計の温床となった不採算事業の構造改革を進めており、家電事業全体で6800人の人員削減を既に決定している。

東芝は2015年夏までに、白物家電事業などを扱う子会社「東芝ライフスタイル」について株式の大半を手放す方針。売却額は100億円を超える規模とみられ、朝日新聞によると、「従業員やブランドは引き継ぐ方向」(幹部)で協議しているという。

美的集団は2015年の世界の台数ベースの白物家電市場占有率(シェア)は4.6%で2位、アジア太平洋地域では10.5%でトップに位置している。東芝が販売網を持つ日本や東南アジアへの販路拡大をめざす

東芝ライフスタイルの2015年4~12月期連結決算の営業損益は356億円の赤字だった。東芝は業績悪化の一因となっている白物家電事業を売却することにより、2016年度以降の収益回復につなげたい考えだ。
