トヨタ自動車は11月26日、女性技術者の育成やキャリア支援を目的に、高校生向け講座や大学生と大学院生の学費などを2015年から支援すると発表した。

トヨタ自動車は11月26日、女性技術者の育成やキャリア支援を目的に、高校生向け講座や大学生と大学院生の学費などを2015年から支援すると発表した。12月下旬の登記を目指して、豊田自動織機やアイシン精機などグループ9社と「一般財団法人 トヨタ女性技術者育成基金」を設立する。

トヨタ自動車は、基金発足の理由について「女性活躍促進について官民挙げての取り組みが進みつつある中、製造業においても、女性ならではの視点・感性を活かした商品開発やデザインが新たな市場創出につながることが期待されるなど、その重要性は増している」が、「国内の大学を見ると、理系の工学部における女子学生の在籍率は全体の1割程度であり、自動車を含む輸送機械関連の企業へ就職する比率の高い「電気・機械工学系」ではさらに低水準に留まっている」と説明している。

基金の取り組みは、以下の通り。

具体的には、愛知県内の高校に女性技術職を派遣し、仕事の魅力を伝える講座を開き、工学専攻の女子学生向けキャリア相談などを行う。基金に参加する企業に技術職として入社した場合、教育ローンの弁済資金の全額(最大360万円)または半額相当額を給付するという。
