チュニジアの首都チュニス中心部で11月24日、大統領警護隊を乗せたバスが爆発し、少なくとも12人が死亡、20人が負傷した。同国のカイドセブシ大統領はFacebookページを更新し、「卑劣なテロがあった」と書き込んだ

ロイターによると、爆発が起こったのは内務省などがあるチュニス中心部の大通り。大統領関係者は、「何者かがバスの車内で自爆ベルトを爆発させた公算が大きい」と話した。

事件の後、カイドセブシ大統領はテレビで演説。「国は戦争状態にある」と述べ非常事態宣言を発令、チュニスに夜間外出禁止令を出した。ガイドセブシ大統領は「私たちはテロを打ち破り、チュニジアの人々の安心を取り戻したい」と話し、あらゆる手段を取ることを強調した。

チュニジアでは2010年末に始まった民主化運動「アラブの春」で独裁政権が倒れたあと、イスラム過激派の活動が活発化。2015年3月には、チュニスにある博物館が襲撃され、日本人を含む20人が死亡した。また、6月には観光地スースのリゾートホテルで襲撃事件が発生。外国人観光客を含む約40人が死亡した。
