米中間選挙の開票が4日夜に始まった。共和党が過半数を獲得するか注目されている上院では、ケンタッキー州で共和党のマコネル院内総務が再選される見通しとなった。

[ワシントン 4日 ロイター] - 米中間選挙の開票が4日夜に始まった。共和党が過半数を獲得するか注目されている上院では、ケンタッキー州で共和党のマコネル院内総務が再選される見通しとなった。一方下院では、NBCニュースによると、共和党が引き続き過半数を維持する見込み。

共和党は242議席プラスマイナス8議席を獲得する見込み。現在は435議席中233議席を有している。

ロイターとイプソスの予想によると、ケンタッキー州では、マコネル院内総務が民主党のグライムズ候補を破り再選を果たした。

共和党が上院の過半を占め、マコネル氏の再選が確実となれば、同氏は民主党のハリー・リード氏に代わり、多数党院内総務に就く見通し。

ウェストバージニア州の上院選でも、共和党のキャピト候補が民主党のテナント候補を破り、民主党から議席を奪う見通しとなった。

共和党は上院で議席を伸ばすのはほぼ確実だが、8─10議席は共和・民主が五分五分で、議席の行方が分からない。改選36議席で共和党が6議席純増できれば過半数を奪還できる。
