サッカーJ1川崎の元日本代表FW、大久保嘉人さん（33）が10月11日、異常妊娠の胞状奇胎で入院して抗がん剤治療に入る妻、莉瑛さん（32）を支えようと、息子3人とともに丸刈りになった。丸刈りは国見高（長崎）以来14年ぶりといい、自身のインスタグラムでその姿を披露した。
大久保さんは12日、川崎市内で取材に応じた。莉瑛さんの治療期間は3週間程度で、子供の世話は莉瑛さんの母親が手伝ってくれているという。「オレ1人じゃご飯もつくれないし、子供が死んでしまうわ…」と、改めて莉瑛さんの存在の大きさを実感している様子だったという。
胞状奇胎とは、妊娠初期に胎盤を形成する絨毛膜の絨毛が病的に増殖し、ぶどうの房状の囊胞（のうほう）になって子宮腔を満たすもので、大出血を伴って流産したり、ガンが発生したりする確率が高い。コトバンクによると、発生率は東洋では日本を含めて欧米より高く、200～500例の妊娠に1例の割合でみられ、比較的若い妊婦と40歳以上の高齢妊婦に目だつという。
