[ニューヨーク 15日 ロイター] - 2001年9月11日に起きた米同時多発攻撃の記念博物館がニューヨークの世界貿易センタービル跡地に完成し、開館の式典が15日に行われた。

オバマ大統領は式典で演説し、博物館について「癒やしと希望の神聖な場所」と表現。「まだ生まれていない世代も忘れることはない事件を伝える」とし、「愛、思いやり、犠牲といった9・11の真の精神をあらためて認識させる」と語った。

オバマ大統領はミシェル夫人、クリントン元大統領夫妻、ブルームバーグ前ニューヨーク市長とともに博物館内を回った。同館にはニューヨーク、ワシントン、ペンシルベニア州で同時多発攻撃の犠牲となった人たちの遺品なども展示されている。
