シリアの首都ダマスカスの警察署で12月16日、幼い少女による警察署で自爆テロ事件が発生したと、シリア人権監視団が報告した。
この自爆テロは、シリア政府軍がアレッポを制圧した直後の12月16日に発生した。シリア人権監視団はデイリーメールの報道を引用し、一人の少女が警察署を訪れ、署内にいた職員にトイレの場所を尋ねたあとに自爆したと伝えた。この自爆テロによって、警察署に務める職員3名が怪我を負った。
12月21日、自爆したとされる少女が映っている2本の動画がネット上に公開された。共同通信によると、動画はシリア人権監視団が入手したものだという。1本目の動画には、少女2名を両脇に座らせた男が映っており、この男は少女らの父親と推測されている。
イギリスの「インディペンデント」によると、男はイスラム過激派「ヌスラ戦線」の兵士で、幼い娘に自爆テロを実行するよう説得する様子が動画に収められている。
男は画面右側に座っている少女に向かって「これから何をするのだ」と問いかけ、少女は小さな声で「殉教します」と答えた。男は反体制派側の戦闘員が次々に投降していることに言及し、「敵を殺したいか？」と問い、少女は「はい」と応じた。画面左側に座っている少女は妹とみられており、この少女も自爆テロに関与したという報道はされていない。
2本目の動画には、少女の母親と見られる女も映っている。
男は「なぜ娘を送り出すのだ？ひとりはたった7歳で、もうひとりは8歳だ」と女に問いかけ、女は「ジハードには年齢は関係ない。なぜならジハードは全てのムスリムの義務だからです。」と答えた。
