The United States is outlining no change in its Syria policy as an August 1 target date for a political transition passes. In May, Secretary of State John Kerry issued an Aug. 1 ultimatum to Syrian President Bashar Assad\'s government and its main backer, Russia. \"Either something happens,\" he said, \"or they are asking for a very different track.\" But on Monday, Kerry said the U.S. would continue its effort to \"get a cessation of hostilities in place that is meaningful.\" (AP Photo/ Manu Brabo, File) (credit:ASSOCIATED PRESS)
