13年前の9月11日、世界の誰もが知っていた超高層ビルが攻撃を受け、世界史を劇的に変えることとなった。

1973年に建設されたワールドトレードセンタービル。ニューヨークにそびえ立っていたこのビルが、狂信的なアルカイダの操縦するハイジャック機によってほんの数時間で倒壊させられた。

ペンタゴン(国防総省)への攻撃を企て、ペンシルベニア州に墜落した4機目の航空機を含めると、2977人もの市民が犠牲となった。

追悼のため、そしてテロに屈しないという意味も込めて、アメリカはグラウンド・ゼロと名付けられた倒壊現場と同じ場所に、以前よりも高いビルを建設する決定をした。

ワン・ワールドトレードセンタービルの高さは1776フィート(約541m)。これはアメリカの独立宣言が行われた年にちなむ。
