南米最大の真夏の祭典、ブラジル・リオデジャネイロのカーニバルが2月13日に開幕し、開幕式が行われた。17日までの期間中、観光客がサンバのリズムと熱気に酔いしれる。
市の施設で行われた開幕式では、リオデジャネイロ市のパエス市長が、カーニバルのために街を開放することを意味する大きな鍵を「カーニバルの王様」役のダンサーに渡し、「王様」が鍵を高く掲げて、開幕を宣言。「王様」や「女王様」がサンバのリズムに合わせて踊りを披露して、カーニバルの雰囲気を盛り上げた。
リオデジャネイロ市では、国内外から約98万人の観光客を見込んでいる。最も盛り上がるトップグループ12チームによるパレードは15から始まるという。
パレードは、リオデジャネイロだけでなくサンパウロでも行われている。
