コリン・キャパニック、NFLシーズン初先発でも国歌斉唱の起立拒否、アウェーでブーイング鳴り響く

10月16日のバッファロー・ビルズ戦で、国会斉唱の最中にひざまずくコリン・キャパニック

アメリカで黒人や有色人種への人種差別的な事件が多発することに抗議して国家斉唱で起立を拒否し続けていたNFLのサンフランシスコ49ers所属のクォーターバック(QB)コリン・キャパニックが、10月16日のバッファロー・ビルズ戦で今シーズン初先発した。スポーツ専門ケーブルテレビ局ESPNなどが報じた。

キャパニックはビルズ戦前の国歌斉唱でも起立を拒否してひざまずき、ビルズの本拠地ニューエラ・フィールドにはビルズ・ファンから激しいブーイングが飛び、「USA」コールが鳴り響いた。

「スポーツ・イラストレイテッド」誌のロバート・クレムコ記者は、試合前にビルズファンがキャパニックに模した人形に向かって「イスラム教徒にタックルだ」と叫びながら突進する様子をツイートした。

スタジアムの外では、キャパニックを中傷するTシャツも売られていた。

ラルフ・ウィルソン・スタジアムキャパニックにライフルのスコープが当たったTシャツが10ドルで売られている。

一方で、キャパニックを支持するビルズファンもスタジアムの外でデモを行った。

ビルズファンがキャパニック支持を訴えて行進している。彼らは国歌斉唱の最中にひざまずく予定だ。

試合はビルズが45-16で勝利し、49ersはキャパニックの復帰を白星で飾ることができなかった。

キャパニックは試合後、「俺には理解できない。すべての人の自由と正義のために闘っていることがなんでアメリカ人らしくないのか、そしてこの国が支持している平等のために闘っていることがなんでアメリカ人らしくないのか」と語った。

「正直言うと、フットボールに専念したかった」と、キャパニックは言った。ビルズファンがブーイングを飛ばしたことには「本当に、スタンドで何が起きてきたか耳にしてなかったんだ」と語った

「試合前にビルズファンが何人か現れて、俺を支持するって言ってくれたんだけとね」
