第二次世界大戦中の1944年6月、アメリカ、イギリスを中心とした連合国軍がナチス・ドイツ占領下のフランス北西部に上陸した。この「ノルマンディー上陸作戦」の作戦開始日「Dデー」から6月6日で、72年を迎える。
用意された連合軍の兵力は約17万人。陸に47個師団、上陸用舟艇4000隻に航空機1万2000機と空前の大軍だった。 連合国軍のドイツへの勝利を決定づけ「史上最大の作戦」と言われた戦いを、写真で振り返ろう。
