瀬戸大也、400ｍ個人メドレー連覇　オリンピック内定「すっごい、うれしい」（画像集）

競泳男子400メートル個人メドレーで瀬戸大也が、4分8秒50の自己ベストで金メダルを獲得し、2連覇を達成した。

ロシアで開かれている水泳の世界選手権の最終日、競泳男子400メートル個人メドレー決勝は、瀬戸大也が4分8秒50の自己ベストで金メダルを獲得し、2連覇を達成した。これにより、初出場となる2016年リオデジャネイロ・オリンピック代表に内定した。日刊スポーツなどが報じた。

瀬戸は200メートルバタフライで6位、200メートル個人メドレーは準決勝敗退に終わっていた。しかし、400メートル個人メドレーは前回王者としての重圧を乗り越えて、再び頂点に立った。

瀬戸は「すっごい、うれしいです。この試合は本当に苦しくて、あまりいいイメージができず、正直ダメだなと思ったんですけど、いつもポジティブに言葉を発して、一発にかけてやろうと。最後はプールから上がれなくなるくらいのスパートをかけられた。絶対にできる、と自分を信じて戦い抜いたら、この結果が出たので、すごくほっとしている」とコメントした。

ロンドン・オリンピックは選考会で敗れた瀬戸。リオデジャネイロ・オリンピック代表に内定し「オリンピック決まったんですね、そうだ………。すっごい、うれしいです」と笑みを浮かべた。
