サッカーの元イタリア代表でセリエA・ユベントスで活躍したデルピエロ（40）が、現役引退を示唆した。指導者の道を歩むことを考え始めたという。6月17日、イタリアのスポーツ紙「ガゼッタ・デロ・スポルト」が報じた。
16日、デルピエロはミラノで行われた銀行のイベントに出席。既に欧州リーグの2つのクラブからオファーがあったが、「自分に合った内容ではなかった」と話した。
さらに、監督という仕事についても言及。「指導者の道を考え始めた。正直に言えば、もし3年前だったら即座に“ノー”と言っただろう。他にやりたいことがあった。しかし、今はその可能性を否定出来ない。実際、夏はアメリカで、3つの少年サッカースクールを開く予定だ」と述べた。
デルピエロは、1993年から2012年までの19年間、ユベントスで活躍。その後、オーストラリアのシドニーFCを経て、2014年はインドのデリー・ディナモスでプレーしていた。現在は家族とともにアメリカのロサンゼルスに住んでいるが、休暇でイタリアに戻ってきていた。
