モロッコの首都ラバトの動物園で7月26日、ゾウが投げた石が7歳の女の子の頭に当たり、死亡する事故が起きた。
女の子が家族と一緒に動物園を訪れていた時、ゾウが鼻で大きな石を掴み、空中に投げた。ゾウが投げた石が頭に当たった女の子は意識を失い、その後搬送先の病院で死亡した。
事故の起こった後の様子が、スマートフォンで撮影されている。
動物園は声明で、このゾウは国際的な基準を満たした囲いの中で飼育されており、「このような事故は極めてまれで、予測するのが困難」だと話している。
ゾウが投げた石が女の子に当たった後の様子が動画で撮影され、YouTubeにアップロードされた。
この動画では、カメラが石にフォーカスを当てる前にゾウが鼻を振っているのが見える。また、遠くには負傷した女の子の周りを囲む多くの人の様子が確認できる。

Not the greatest picture but I thought this was an illustration of one aspect of Kaziranga\'s natural history. Elephant grass is perhaps the most aptly named grass.
