フランス大統領選の決選投票が5月7日行われ、無所属で政治運動「アン・マルシュ!」を率いるエマニュエル・マクロン氏(39)の勝利が確実となった。BBCなどが出口調査などを基に報じた。

マクロン氏は既成政党以外から初の大統領となると同時に、フランス史上最年少の大統領となる。

マクロン氏はAFP通信に、「今夜、フランスの長い歴史の中で新たな章が始まった。これを希望と信頼の章にしたい」と語った。

対立候補の極右政党「国民戦線」のマリーヌ・ルペン氏は、「マクロン氏の成功を祈る」と述べ、事実上敗北を認めた。

マクロン氏を祝福する。そしてこの国にとって最善の利益をもたらすよう、マクロン氏の成功を祈る。

マクロン氏は元社会党で、フランソワ・オランド大統領政権下で2年間だけ経済相を務めた。政界に入る前は、ロスチャイルド銀行の幹部だった。マクロン氏は「政治家が腐敗し、機能していない」という既存の政治を批判する声を取り込む一方、穏健な経済改革に基づく中道派の政策を主張している。

ルペン氏は、EU離脱と国の通貨をフランに戻すことを公約に掲げていた。EU加盟の是非を問う国民投票や反イスラム、反移民政策の導入を主張し、アメリカのトランプ大統領の選挙運動を真似た「フランス・ファースト」の政策を唱えていた。

一方、マクロン氏は穏健な改革派として選挙に立ち、フランスが中心となってEUを再活性化させることを求めている。ヨーロッパでは極右のポピュリズム政党が台頭しているが、マクロン氏は左右に偏ったフランス政治を中道に戻そうとしている
