羽生結弦がまたひとつ、伝説を作った――。 フィギュアスケートのシーズン前半戦・世界一を決定する「グランプリ（GP）ファイナル」は12月12日、スペイン・バルセロナで男子フリープログラムが行われ、ショートプログラム（SP）で世界最高点を更新した羽生結弦が219.48点という高得点をマーク。合計330.43点で優勝し、男子史上初の3連覇を達成した。

羽生は冒頭の4回転ジャンプ2つを軽々と決め、後半の4回転＋3回転、3回転＋2回転などのジャンプも見事に成功。初めてフリーで200点を超えたNHK杯の時よりも、後半でさらに点数を伸ばした。点数が発表されると涙が溢れ、膝に抱えたくまのプーさんのぬいぐるみに顔をうずめた。
演技後のインタビューでは、「全てのエレメントにおいて、完璧な演技を目指した。点数と演技は異なるものだから」と英語でコメント。確固たる自信はどこから来るのかとの質問には、「とても緊張していた。私の方こそ、どうやって自信をつけるのか誰か教えてほしい」などと答えた。
後に開かれた記者会見では、NHK杯の点数や演技を意識しており、かなりのプレッシャーがあったことを告白。「ワールドレコードに追われて演技した感じがあった。点数とか、NHK杯のパフォーマンスがあったからこそ、今回は自分を追い込んだ。しかし、フリーをやっている最中に吹っ切れた。今できることを考えながら滑った」などと語った。
歴史的な記録更新。自分の演技を見た子供へのコメントを求められたインタビューでは、「私も小さいころ、プルシェンコらを見ていた。どうかスケートを、練習を、夢をあきらめないで」などとアドバイスした。
