国際テロ組織アルカイダ系の武装組織「イラク・シリア・イスラム国（ISIS）」が、6月11日までの2日間でイラク第2の都市モスルなど2つの主要都市を制圧し、首都バグダッドに迫った。これに対し、マリキ政権は軍事作戦を本格化して反撃する構えで、大規模な衝突による混乱の拡大が懸念されており、緊迫の度を増している。アメリカのウォールストリート・ジャーナル紙などが報じた。
ISISは10日にイラク第2の都市モスルを制圧した後、11日には独裁者だったフセイン元大統領の出身地ティクリートを掌握。ティクリートはサラヘディン県の県都で人口は約25万人。首都バグダッドから北に約137キロの地点にある。県の幹部は、ISISがティクリートを制圧したことを認めている。武装勢力はティクリートの刑務所に捉えられていた数百人という受刑者を解放した。
11日夜までに、ティクリートよりさらに南の、バグダッドから130キロ弱の距離にあるサマラで、イラク軍と武装勢力の間で戦闘が起きたと報じられた。

ISISはイラクとシリアにまたがるイスラム国家の樹立を目指している。
アメリカのニューヨーク・タイムズ紙（電子版）は11日、イラクとアメリカの当局者の話として、イラクのマリキ首相が先月、オバマ政権に対して過激組織への空爆を検討するよう秘密裏に求めていたと伝えた。アメリカ側は拒否しているという。
イラクのマリキ首相は義勇兵を募るなどして治安部隊を立て直し、モスルを奪回する軍事作戦を本格化する方針を示しているほか、欧米のメディアによりますと、アメリカに無人機による過激派組織への空爆を要請したものの、拒否されたということです。こうしたなか、バグダッド北東部のシーア派住民が多く住むサドルシティーでは11日、自爆テロが起き、少なくとも24人が死亡しました。

イラク北部ではモスルなどからすでに50万人以上の市民が避難していて、今後、大規模な衝突による混乱の拡大が懸念されている。
■武装組織、トルコ総領事ら49人を連れ去る
トルコ外務省は11日、モスルにあるトルコの領事館が、ISISに襲撃され、総領事を含む領事館の関係者ら49人が連れ去られたと発表した。同市ではトルコ国籍のトラック運転手ら31人もISISに連れ去られた。
同省の声明などによれば、ISISは11日午前、領事館を襲撃し、49人を連れ去った。地元の行政関係者によれば、領事館関係者は同市内の行政施設に拘束されているという。運転手ら31人は市郊外の発電所で拘束され、人質になっているという。
