自衛隊員「安心のため救助続ける」 現場で続く救出活動【画像】

人も犬も救出。

台風18号の影響による記録的な豪雨で、河川の決壊が相次いだ。住宅地に濁流が流れ込み、自衛隊や警察、消防が、取り残された住民の救出作業を続けている。

NHKニュースによると、9月9日に茨城県常総市で活動を行った陸上自衛隊員は、「ひどいところでは首もとまで水につかるなか、救助にあたった」などと述べた。

常総市役所近くで、住民をヘリコプターで救助した海上自衛隊の隊員は「電線が多く、狭い場所でヘリを近づけ、救助隊員を降ろす作業が困難だった」と話す。しかし、まだ救助を待っている人が多数いるとして、「彼らの安心・安全な場所を提供すべく活動を続ける」と気を引き締めている。
