LGBTのパレード「ゲイ・プライド・パレード」参加者にユダヤ教徒過激派の男がナイフで切りつけた事件で、負傷した6人のうち、16歳の女性シーラ・バンキさんが2日死亡した。

イスラエルの新聞「ハーレツ」によると、バンキさんはエルサレム在住で、ヘブライ大学付属高校に通う学生だった。彼女は30日のパレードにLGBTの友人たちと共に参加していた。遺族の両親は、彼女の臓器を提供する意向を表明した。

遺族は2日に声明を発表した。

「私たちの素晴らしいシーラは殺されました。16歳の彼女は元気いっぱいで、愛に満ち溢れていました。そして友人たちが生きるために持つべき権利の支持を表明するためにパレードに行きました。これといった理由もなく、邪悪で、愚かで、著しい過失を犯した人間の手で、私たちの美しい花は切り取られてしまいました。善良な人に限って悪いことは起きるものですが、私たちの素晴らしい少女には、とても悪いことが起きました。私たち家族は憎しみを和らげ、より寛容になる希望を表明します」

イスラエルのニュースサイト「Ynet News」によると、警察はイシャイ・シュリセル容疑者とエルサレム在住のレベツィン(ユダヤ教の聖職者「ラビ」の妻)の女性との関係を調べている。彼女はかねてよりゲイ・プライドを非難する人物として知られている。30日、警察はこの女性を拘束するため家宅捜索したが、彼女は倒れ、病院に運ばれ治療を受けている。
