中国で開かれている体操の世界選手権の男子個人総合決勝で10月9日、ロンドン五輪金メダリストの内村航平（25）が優勝した。内村は6種目合計91.965点。自身の史上最多記録を塗り替える5連覇を達成した。
しかし、表彰式でハプニングが起きた。国旗掲揚の際、日本の「君が代」が終了する前に司会者がアナウンスを始めてしまい、曲が途中で終了してしまったのだ。スポニチなどが報じている。
歴史を塗り替える金メダルを受け取った内村が、表彰台で誇らしげに君が代を聴いていたが、最後までかからずに曲が終了。まさかの展開に、内村も苦笑いを浮かべるしかなかった。

なお、2011年のバレーボールワールドグランプリでも、君が代が途中で終了し話題となった。これは、国際バレーボール連盟（FIVB)で、日本に限らずどの国も国歌は45秒しか流さないというルールとなっていたためだ。その後、各国からの非難が出ていたこともあり、FIVBでは規定を変更している。
