運転していた男は公用建造物損壊などの疑いで逮捕された。時事ドットコムによると、朴槿恵（パク・クネ）大統領の親友で国政介入疑惑の中心人物、崔順実（チェ・スンシル）氏が「死に値する罪を犯した」と語ったという報道を聞いて「自分が死ぬのを手伝おうと思った」と供述しているという。
