沖縄県で大阪府警の機動隊員が「土人」などと差別的な発言をした問題について、松井一郎大阪府知事は10月19日夜、Twitterを更新、「表現が不適切」と書いた一方で、「だとしても、大阪府警の警官が一生懸命命令に従い職務を遂行していたのがわかりました。出張ご苦労様」などと投稿していた。
機動隊員の発言は沖縄県東村高江で進められているヘリパッド移設工事現場の周辺で、反対する住民らに対して行われたもの。機動隊員の暴言がビデオに収められてインターネット上で広まった。
琉球新報によると、沖縄県の翁長雄志知事は19日の記者会見でこの言動を批判。「未開の地域住民を侮蔑（ぶべつ）する意味を含み、一県民としても、県知事としても言語道断で到底許されるものではなく、強い憤りを感じている」と話していた。
松井知事の投稿には「ヘイトスピーチの親玉」「差別を解消に向けて努力すべき自治体の長に相応しい人物でない」などと疑問を投げかける人々の反論ツイートが多数寄せられている。
