［ソウル １１日 ロイター］ - 韓国保健福祉省は１１日、中東呼吸器症候群（ＭＥＲＳ）で新たに１人がこの日死亡したと発表した。これで、同国におけるＭＥＲＳによる死者は１０人となった。
死亡したのは６５歳の男性。７日に症状が確認され、他のＭＥＲＳ感染者と同じ病室に収容されていたという。
同国での感染者数は１２２人に達しており、死者数とともに、サウジアラビアを除くと最多となる。
ＭＥＲＳ感染拡大による経済への打撃を和らげるため、韓国銀行（中央銀行）は同日、政策金利を１．７５％から過去最低の１．５０％に引き下げると発表した。利下げは、ここ１年弱で４回目。２０１２年７月からの金融緩和サイクルで７回目となる。
李柱烈（イ・ジュヨル）総裁は政策決定後の記者会見で、ＭＥＲＳにより内需が短期的にマイナスの影響を受けたことは明らかだと述べ、ここ２週間のデータを調べているが、今後国内消費がさらに急速に冷え込むことを懸念していると述べた。
