阿蘇山の爆発的噴火、噴煙の高さは1万1000メートル 愛媛や香川でも降灰

爆発的な噴火が発生したのは、1980年1月26日以来36年ぶり。

熊本県・阿蘇山中岳の第一火口で10月8日午前1時46分ごろ、爆発的な噴火が発生し、西日本を中心に広い範囲で降灰があり、愛媛県や香川県でも確認された。気象庁は噴火経過レベルを2(火口周辺規制)から3(入山規制)に引き上げ、火口から約2キロ周囲で噴石や火砕流に警戒するよう呼びかけている。朝日新聞デジタルなどが報じた。

気象庁によると、中岳第一火口で爆発的な噴火が発生したのは、1980年1月26日以来36年ぶり。気象衛星の観測で、噴煙は1万1000メートルの高さまで上がったことが確認され、過去20年の間で最も高い噴煙となった。NHKによると、福岡管区気象台は「最も高くまで上がった噴煙は、阿蘇山では2000メートル程度だったが、今回はその5倍の高さに達している」という。

気象庁の斎藤誠火山課長は8日未明の会見で、「現時点ではこれ以上大きな噴火の可能性は低いが、同じ規模の噴火が起こりうる」と述べ、警戒を呼びかけた
