決勝の舞台に仲間を連れて行くために――。

女子サッカー・ワールドカップの決勝戦を7月6日に控えたなでしこジャパンに安藤梢が帰ってくる。

安藤は6月8日に行われたワールドカップ初戦のスイス戦に先発し、決勝点につながるPKを得たが、この相手GKとの接触で左足首を骨折。今大会中の復帰は絶望で、チームを離れ日本に帰国し、手術を受けていた。チームが決勝に進んだことで、安藤は再びチームに合流し、決勝戦ではベンチから仲間を支える。

このプレーで安藤は負傷した

無念の負傷離脱中、他のチームメイトは、安藤の分までと奮起したという。

「試合前に(宮間)あやが、『アンチ(安藤)の分まで頑張ろう。気持ちだけじゃなくプレーで示そう』って円陣を組んで言ってくれた。正直、あそこに立ちたかった気持ちはあったけど、頑張ったみんなに元気をもらいました」と声を震わせながら話し、「私のユニフォームをベンチに持って行ってくれて、私の方にもそのユニフォームを見せてくれました」

グループリーグ第2戦までは、安藤のユニフォームをベンチにかけて戦っていたが、選手からは「安藤とともに戦うためにぬいぐるみが欲しい」と要望があり、クマのぬいぐるみに背番号7のユニフォームをつけ、ベンチに連れてきていた。

イングランド戦を前に、クマのぬいぐるみを抱える岩渕真奈

準決勝のイングランド戦に勝利したあと、インタビューに答える選手はこのクマを手に取り、決勝への思いを語っていた。

奇跡のドラマには必ず伏線がある。決勝進出なら、スイスとの初戦で左腓(ひ)骨外果骨折を負って帰国した安藤が再合流することになっていた。試合前とハーフタイムのロッカールームは安藤の帰国以降、無料通話アプリ「LINE」でつないでいる。この日の試合前、安藤の願いがロッカーに響いた。「バンクーバーに私を連れていって」。その言葉に誰もが奮い立った。「それを実現できた彼女たちは素晴らしいと敬意を表したい」と指揮官も目を細めた。
